PHOENIX – The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) is pleased to announce the 15th Annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Award to honorees that have gone above and beyond in the world of service and volunteerism. A statewide panel of judges evaluated nominations for need, action, innovation, and impact. Four recipients will receive this prominent award, which is considered the highest honor given for volunteerism in the State of Arizona. By Carla Friedman

The 2016 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award winners:
Lifetime Community Service – Ed Irving, Tucson
Service to Others – Debbie Nez-Manuel, Klagetoh|Navajo Nation
Inspired Youth Leadership – Arizona State Teen Court Youth Leadership Diversion Program, Phoenix Stewardship – AAA Arizona – AAA Serves, Phoenix
The winners will be honored at 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 3rdat ASU West during the Arizona Summit on Volunteerism and Civics Education. The awards luncheon is hosted by the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism. “We originally met Baje and really liked his artwork back in March at the Heard Museum Indian Market. We started talking and put together a workshop with him. He’s going to teach us how to use watercolors and how to draw a sketch”

“The Manuel’s along with the Youth Advisor Amber Brown helped organize the youth workshop in an effort in an effort to reinforce cultural identity through and experiential learning process.”
